AutomaTech is a Calgary-based technology company founded on the belief that practical, well-built software shouldn't be reserved for large organizations.
Founder & Engineer · AutomaTech Solutions Inc.
I'm a Computer Science graduate from UBCO with a deep interest in the intersection of networking, infrastructure, and software development. I started AutomaTech because I kept running into the same problem: small businesses and independent professionals needed real operational software, but the options were either far too expensive, far too generic, or both.
"Good software should fit the way you actually work and not the other way around. I started AutomaTech to build exactly that: tools designed around real workflows, not adapted from something else and sold as a solution."
My background spans cloud infrastructure (AWS), networking, and full-stack development. This combination allows me to approach client problems from the infrastructure layer up to the user interface. I've worked on everything from AI-powered industrial classification systems at a software startup, to autonomous UAV systems during my time in the UBCO Aerial Robotics club, to designing and managing my own private homelab infrastructure.
The decision to start AutomaTech came from a pattern I noticed across multiple engagements: the clients who needed software most were the ones least served by existing solutions. Immigration consultants managing complex caseloads through spreadsheets. Small business owners paying for cloud subscriptions for infrastructure they could host themselves at a fraction of the cost. That gap is where AutomaTech operates.
AutomaTech's first major product AutoImm is a direct response to one of those gaps. Immigration consultants in Canada are a large, underserved professional community managing high-stakes, documentation-heavy workflows with tools that were never designed for them. AutoImm is built specifically for that world.
Built LLM classification pipelines, automated benchmarking systems, and iterative prompt engineering workflows that improved parsing accuracy by 60%.
Developed autonomous UAV flight systems in C++ and Python, including computer vision pipelines, inter-process communication via ZeroMQ, and YOLO-based object detection.
Built a containerized accounting application with automated PDF invoice parsing, anomaly detection, and a React/Django/PostgreSQL stack for a local energy sector client.
Computer Science graduate from the University of British Columbia with a focus on systems, networking, and applied software development.
Certified in cloud fundamentals with hands-on experience in VPCs, serverless architecture, EC2, S3, and hybrid cloud/on-premise networking concepts.
Currently studying for my networking certification covering routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting, network security, and infrastructure design principles.
The Canadian small business landscape is full of professionals doing highly skilled work with tools that aren't designed for them. They're making it work with spreadsheets, generic CRMs, and fragmented cloud subscriptions, but they're leaving efficiency on the table every single day.
AutomaTech is built on the premise that domain-specific software creates a disproportionate amount of value. And that value doesn't have to come with an enterprise price tag.
Starting in Calgary with a focus on Canadian verticals, the goal is straightforward: find the underserved professionals, understand their workflows deeply, and build the tools that actually fit their business goals.
