Solutions

How we build your software.

A transparent process from first conversation to production deployment and everything that comes after.

Our Philosophy

Software that fits. Not software that compromises.

Every engagement begins with a genuine understanding of the problem, not a sales pitch. We take the time to learn your workflows, constraints, and goals before writing a single line of code.

The result is software that reflects how your business actually operates, built by someone who stays accountable for it long after delivery.

What you can always expect

Transparent scoping

Fixed scope and pricing agreed before work begins. No surprise invoices.

Direct communication

You work with the engineer, not an account manager relaying messages.

Production-ready output

Documented, tested, and deployable. Not a prototype left for you to figure out.

Clear IP terms, always in writing

Ownership and licensing terms are defined upfront in your signed SOW before a single line of code is written.

PHASE 01
Discovery

Understanding the problem before proposing a solution

We begin with a structured discovery conversation to map your workflows, pain points, and goals. No assumptions, no pre-packaged answers. The output is a shared understanding of what needs to be built and why.

Duration1–2 sessions, typically 1–2 hrs total
DeliverableProblem brief & preliminary scope outline
Your involvementHigh — this is your domain expertise
PHASE 02
Scoping & Proposal

A clear contract before a single keystroke

Based on the discovery session, we produce a written scope of work with feature definitions, technical approach, timeline, and a fixed-price quote. You review it, ask questions, and approve before we start.

Duration2–5 business days
DeliverableSigned SOW & project contract
Your involvementReview and approval
PHASE 03
Build

Iterative development with regular checkpoints

Development proceeds in focused cycles with regular demos so you always know where the project stands. We don't disappear for six weeks and surface with a surprise. Feedback is incorporated as we go, not after delivery.

DurationScoped per project
DeliverableWorking software at each checkpoint
Your involvementPeriodic review & feedback
PHASE 04
Testing & QA

Verified against your real-world requirements

Before delivery, the application is tested against the original scope requirements and against the actual workflows defined in discovery. We document what was tested and how.

DurationBuilt into project timeline
DeliverableTest report & sign-off
Your involvementUAT participation
PHASE 05
Deployment & Handoff

Delivered to production, not to a zip file

We handle the deployment to your chosen infrastructure and ensure the system is live and stable before handoff. All credentials and documentation are transferred to you. Source code is transferred in full for Focused Tool engagements; Business Platform clients receive a perpetual operating license per their SOW.

Duration1–3 days

PHASE 06
Ongoing Support (Optional)

Maintenance retainers for continued partnership

For clients who want continued support, we offer monthly maintenance retainers covering monitoring, bug fixes, minor enhancements, and priority response.

Common Questions

What clients usually ask.

Do I need a technical background to work with you?
Not at all. Discovery is conducted in plain language, focused on your workflows and goals. Technical decisions are explained clearly and always framed in terms of what they mean for your business.
What happens if requirements change mid-project?
Minor clarifications are absorbed. Meaningful scope changes are handled transparently with a written change order outlining any impact on timeline or cost — no surprises.
Who owns the code after delivery?
It depends on the engagement tier. For Focused Tool projects, full IP and source code are transferred to you at delivery — no strings attached. For Business Platform projects, AutomaTech retains the underlying IP and you receive a perpetual license to operate your deployed instance. In both cases, the exact terms are defined in writing before work begins.
Do you only work with Calgary-based clients?
No. Custom software development and SaaS products are available to clients across Canada. Homelab infrastructure services are currently limited to the Calgary area for on-site installation visits.
How long does a typical project take?
Smaller, focused tools typically deliver in 4–6 weeks. Larger platforms range from 8–14 weeks depending on complexity and client feedback cycles. Timelines are established and agreed upon during scoping.
